Furlough payment deadline
TOMORROW is the last day employers can claim for 80pc of their furloughed employees' wages (up to £2,500) if they want the money before the end of the month, the taxman says.
HMRC say: "The deadline is because it takes six working days for payments to be processed. Employers can make the claim under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme using the link here.

"The same applies for the self-employed who want a grant from the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme. Tomorrow is also the last day for them to claim 80pc of their average monthly trading profits covering three months (up to £7,500) if they want the money by the end of this month.
"Please note this does not mean that no claims can be made after tomorrow. This is just to state that for money to reach people's accounts by the end of May, claims need to be made by close of play tomorrow."
