Got questions about schooling? Fire away...

WITH huge concern around schooling, the region's director of education is inviting questions from parents. With the resumption of schools pencilled in for 12 August, Director of Education, Skills and Learning Gillian Brydson, pictured, will field queries before the weekend and give answers next week. You can submit questions via https://t.co/KAFwzudacp?amp=1 Meanwhile, the situation in Dumfries and Galloway was raised at the First Minister's daily Coronavirus briefing. Scottish pupils should get back to "normal" schooling "as quickly as possible", Nicola Sturgeon said. However, she was told the leader of Dumfries and Galloway Council, Elaine Murray, has said that what it will be offer pupils in the new academic year will be constrained by what the local authority can afford in adapting to social distancing rule. Miss Sturgeon said that the Scottish Government and local government will always have tensions about funding but stressed that they will work together to the same goal and promises that it will "not become a tussle over money". She said councils must look within their own resources and look creatively to meet the challenge while the government has a duty to work with councils and say, if they are struggling with resources, it must look to what is provided.
