Covid-19 cases: New figures put Dumfries and Galloway infections at 274
Army testing in Stranraer
OFFICIAL figures issued in the last few minutes put the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Dumfries and Galloway at 274.
A new system has been deployed, meaning the figures issued by the Scottish Government now include confirmed cases where people have been tested through the UK Government (UKG) testing programme, as well as those through NHS Scotland labs.
There have been 2,464 deaths in Scotland, of which say NHS Dumfries and Galloway 44 were in this region, either within a hospital setting or within the community, in which Coronavirus was either the primary cause of death or a factor potentially contributing to death.
The Scottish Government say a total of 220,198 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS Scotland labs and UKG to date. Of these:
202,121 were confirmed negative
18,077 were positive
They say: "This will be an underestimate of the number of cases. Not everyone with the virus will display symptoms and not all those with symptoms will be tested."
