Their Science Magic' was named as the Scottish Winner in the Totally Scientific' Award category. What's more, their project Healthy Habits' was Runner Up' in the Totally Active category.
The Better Energy School Awards is a nationwide competition for 5 to 11 year olds, which is run by the Young People's Trust for the Environment (YPTE) in partnership with Total.
Even with schools in lockdown, over 28,750 children submitted entries for the 2020 Awards, which aim to generate interest in the environment and raise awareness of the need for sustainable energy sources. Since the Awards began in 2007, entries have been received from around 370.000 children.
YPTE Director Peter Littlewood said, Given the strange circumstances that schools face at the moment, we have been delighted with the number of entries we have received again from schools across England, Scotland and Wales this year. Young people are really getting to grips with a wide range of environmental issues and their ideas and actions have been really heartwarming to see.
We were really impressed with the way that environmental issues had been integrated into the school's science learning programme We loved their weather station in particular! The children have also been really involved in growing and cooking their own produce and sharing it with the community - a fantastic idea!
In recognition of their efforts, the school will be receiving a prize of £500 for being Regional Winners and a further £250 for being Runner Up, making a total of £750 for the school funds.
The Better Energy School Awards competition will run again in 2020-21. For details on how to enter or to see details of previous winners, please visit http://betterenergyschoolawards.org.uk/
