D&G Covid-19 cluster restrictions lifted
TRAVEL restrictions on residents of a large swathe of the eastern end of Dumfries and Galloway have been lifted.
Special measures were introduced restricting movement after a 'complex' cluster of 12 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed. It is understood the cases had a cross-border link.
Lifting the restrictions imposed on some easterly postcodes, the Scottish Government said today it was 'now as confident as it could be that the outbreak was under control.'
It did however warn that more parts of the country were likely to experience similar situations in the weeks ahead.
In total 12 new cases were identified in the cluster, while 23 contacts were traced and offered tests and told to self-isolate.
It resulted in an extension of the ban on leisure travel of more than five miles in the area affected.
Official Scottish Government figures say Dumfries and Galloway has recorded a total of 295 positive Covid-19 cases.
