Shoreline search proves fruitless
COASTGUARD teams were out this evening searching the shoreline at Stranraer.
A spokeswoman from the Marine and Coastguard Agency told the Free Press in the the last few minutes: "There was a search this evening for a possible person in difficulty. However the search has now been completed with nothing found."
Coastguard teams from Stranraer, Portpatrick and Ballantrae were involved along with officers from Police Scotland.
Our picture shows the search progressing along the Cockle Shore.
Stranraer Coastguard posted: "Team stood down and returned to station. The informant made the call with good intent.
"If you have concerns regarding anyone on the coastline, please call #999 and ask for the #coastguards. We are on call 24/7 and ready to respond to #emergencies. If in doubt call us it's better to be safe than sorry."
