Football's coming home (at last!)

STRANRAER FC will open the new season at Stair Park, welcoming Elgin City on October 17 as they kick off their League Two campaign. After that it's a short trip down the A75 to Annan. The club's first five fixtures are confirmed as: 17 Oct - Elgin City (H) 24 Oct - Annan Athletic (A) 31 Oct - Queen's Park (H) 7 Nov - Cowdenbeath (H) 21 Nov - Edinburgh City (A) The Blues are marking their 150th anniversary but the shine was taken off the milestone for many fans by the controversial nature of the club's relegation. When Covid-19 cut short the season earlier this year, Stranraer were bottom of the table though many - especially manager Stevie Farrell – fancied their chances of beating the drop with several games, among them many home ties, still to play. It was not to be and now the club and fans are looking ahead to the return of competitive football after the enforced lay-off. Oh, and Elgin City's website says they begin their season with 'a short trip to Stranraer'. They have checked the map, right?
