Pirates? No. So why are the police coming to Stranraer by boat? 'We just arrrrrrr!'
The police RIB off Stranraer
CRIMINALS don't confine themselves to the land and so the long arm of the law has to be able to reach out onto the water too...
Stranraer harbour had an unusual visitor on Wednesday as a RIB from Police Scotland's Marine Unit arrived at speed.
The RIB travelled from Troon, first tracking down the Ayrshire coast before arriving in Loch Ryan. It passed the Cairnryan ferry terminals and headed towards Stranraer's piers.
It was a flying visit only, though, and the officers aboard did not come ashore.
Police Scotland confirmed it was not a anti-piracy raid but a routine training exercise confirming their Marine and Dive Unit which is based in Greenock has the ability to rapidly access all areas of the coastline.
