Video eases the return to college for students

Principal Joanna Campbell

A VIDEO designed to help staff and students prepare for and acclimatise to the new normal on campus has been commissioned and published by Dumfries and Galloway College. The college community will be greeted by the new instructional welcome cartoon, created for the college by graphic designer and illustrator, Paul Smith Design when they return to campus. Covid-19: Re-opening of Dumfries and Galloway College has been published on video-sharing site Vimeo and will play on TV screens across the college as students are welcomed back. Students will also be able to access the clip via the college's website and various social media platforms. Set to a relaxing melody, the video outlines the various practices that have been put into place to keep the college community safe such as social distancing in classrooms and corridors, hygiene measures, and the new rules for college catering. They say: "Dumfries and Galloway College's response to COVID-19 has been to harness the resources, technology, innovation, and imagination of its college community to ensure that learning continued in the South of Scotland throughout the pandemic and the local community received the support that so many in it desperately needed. "As the region emerges from the Covid-19 restrictions, Dumfries and Galloway College, through the leadership of Principal Joanna Campbell and her team, will continue to play a significant role in the development and recovery of its local community. Principal Miss Campbell said: “While we are delighted that many of our students will soon be returning to campus, we understand the need to assuage any understandable concerns that they might have. “This video contains all the information students and staff need to know as the return and helps to underline the fact that their college takes our responsibilities very seriously. “I'd recommend that all our college community watches and shares this brilliant video that Paul Smith Design has put together for us.”
