Helicopter plucks man to safety from Machars cliff

A DRAMATIC cliff rescue took place at St Medans, Monreith, in the Machars last night. Isle of Whithorn Coastguard report they were called out just before 10pm along with Stranraer, Portpatrick and Ballantrae Coastguard teams and the Rescue 199 helicopter based at Prestwick. "On arrival Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Fire and Rescue were on scene shortly, followed by Rescue 199. "A cliff recovery was set up by Coastguard teams though the casualty was recovered by Rescue 199 and transported to further assessment and care." The add that all rescue personnel were safe and say: "Thank you to all Coastguard teams and agencies that attended for their cooperation and assistance."
