Wind and tide mean Drummore road is shut
Susan and James Kenneavy
TIDE and weather conditions mean the A716 road is currently closed outside Drummore.
Wigtownshire remains under a Met Office yellow weather warning for high winds throughout today and into tomorrow.
In 2018, James and Susan Kenneavy, from Drummore, died after their vehicle left the A716. The deaths promoted a review of safety issues on the road, including sea defences and possible alternative diversion routes.
There has been controversy over plans to enforce closure of the A716 with some resident along its length complaining they would be marooned.
And there have been examples of drivers moving temporary barriers aside to gain access.
At Kilstay Bay, the road runs very close to Luce Bay and debris and floodwater thrown up by high tides and storms often cover the road surface.
