MACDOUGALL — David and Roslyn (Simms) are delighted to announce the birth of their son, Angus John Edward, on Good Friday, 14th April, 2017 at Jessop Wing, Sheffield. Angus is a 2nd grandson for Dr and Mrs James Simms, Glasgow and a very welcome cousin for Caitlyn and Cameron.
DEATHS
CORRIGAN — Peacefully at Thorney Croft, Stranraer on Monday, 15th May, 2017, James Corrigan, aged 72 years, of 54 Mount Vernon Road, Stranraer. Beloved husband of Betsy McGarva dearly loved father, grandfather and great grandfather of all the family. Funeral on Monday, 22nd May, 2017. Service in the High Kirk of Stranraer at 11.00.am. Thereafter interment at the Glebe Cemetery. All friends respectfully invited, family flowers only please, donations if desired in aid of Thorney Croft on retiral from church.
COWE — Peacefully on Thursday 11th May, 2017, Edith Cowe, aged 82 years of Windy Hall Nursing Home, Ayr and formerly North Street, Glenluce and previously Bridge of Weir. Beloved wife of the late Jim Cowe, dearly loved mother of Alex, Jimmy and Gary, much loved granny of all the family. Funeral on Friday 19th May, 2017. Service in Luce Valley Church, Glenluce at 12.00.noon. Thereafter interment at Glenjorrie Cemetery, all friends respectfully invited, family flowers only please, donations if desired in aid of British Red Cross on retiral from church.
CROSBIE — James Laidlaw Crosbie died peacefully on Friday, 12th May, 2017 at Lagan Valley Hospital at Lisburn, Northern Ireland. He was a beloved husband, father, papa and great grandfather, he will be sadly missed but never forgotten, you will always live in our hearts.
FYVIE — Peacefully at home in Manchester on 13th May, 2017, Janette Fyvie, nee Gilchrist, formerly of Stranraer. Beloved wife of the late Tom, much loved sister of Margaret, Jackie, Tony and the late Mary and Alan. A loving mother and granny.
GILMOUR, ELIZABETH — On the 11th May, 2017, peacefully at her home, Elizabeth Ray Gilmour (Liz) nee Bell of Noblehill Avenue, Dumfries. Beloved wife of John, dearly loved mother of Jill, Rob and the late Ian and a much loved grandma of Iona and Joshua. Service at the Crichton Memorial Church, Dumfries on Monday, 22nd May at 12 noon. Funeral thereafter to Troqueer Cemetery. All friends are respectfully invited to attend. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired for Marie Curie and Macmillan Nurses can be given at the service in memory of Liz.
HAMILTON — Peacefully at home on Saturday, 13th May, 2017, Robert Edward Hamilton aged 74 years, of 5 Wellwood Terrace, New Luce. Beloved husband of Ailsa, dearly loved father of Brenda, much loved grandfather of Jade and Jessica. Funeral arrangements to follow by window intimation.

TAYLOR — Mr James Taylor and family, 17 High Street, Garlieston, wishes to thank all friends and members of the local community for cards and flowers kindly given to Violet during her recent illness and many thoughtful expressions of sympathy received after she passed away. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the doctors in the Galloway Hills medical group, district nurses, staff at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary and in particular the wonderful staff in the Alexandra Unit for Violet's care. Finally we would like to thank the Reverend Jeffery Mead for his support throughout Violet's illness and compassionate service and James Hawthorn for handling funeral arrangements.
